First discovered: 10:39 a.m. Feb. 2 A new wildfire was reported today at 10:39 a.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

The Palisades and Eaton fires, two of the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in California history, reached 100 percent containment more than three weeks after they began.

Emma Fire initially started 11:09 a.m. Jan. 8 in Los Angeles County. It has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for 25 days. At this time, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

Containment measures the percentage of a fire's perimeter that firefighters have under control. Parts of the fire's interior may still be burning.

The Hughes Fire has spread over 8,096 acres after starting just before lunchtime in Los Angeles County's Castaic Lake area on Wednesday.

Firefighters in Southern California are once again battling a wildfire, this time in Castaic in Los Angeles County, north of Los Angeles itself. Evacuation orders have been issued for the surrounding areas.

These are some of the bold ideas academics have for Los Angeles as it recovers from the Eaton and Palisades fires, which killed 28 people and damaged or destroyed nearly 16,000 structures. Together, the blazes charred 59 sq miles (152 sq km) - an area larger than Paris.

At least 29 people are believed to be dead and more than a dozen others remain unaccounted for as multiple wildfires rage across Southern California.
